How do I get a training completion number (TCN)?
Your training completion number is your ID code for your test and will be used by ServiceOntario and the Ministry of the Solicitor General for licensing purposes. Your training completion number can be found on your appointment confirmation and reminder emails. If you are having trouble locating this number, please contact us with your full name and date of birth and a description of your issue.
How do I apply for or renew my licence?
You may apply for or renew your licence through ServiceOntario. These tasks cannot be performed at DriveTest or through the Ministry of the Solicitor General (SOLGEN). To learn more about the licencing process and to obtain the application documents, visit the ServiceOntario website.
Private investigators are persons who perform work, for remuneration, that consists primarily of conducting investigations in order to provide information on the character or actions of a person, the business or occupation of a person, and the whereabouts of persons or property.
The Ministry of the Solicitor General regulates Ontario's private security industry with an aim to ensure work is carried out professionally, effectively, safely, and lawfully.
On behalf of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, Serco Canada Inc. administers security guard and/or private investigator tests at DriveTest Centres across the province. ServiceOntario then processes security guard and/or private security applications and issues security guard and private investigator licences to eligible applicants.
